Cagrilintide arrives in body composition conversations as the other half of CagriSema, the amylin analogue paired with semaglutide. Unlike most compounds covered here it is not a research chemical with an animal literature and a rumour. It is a drug in late-stage development, and the registry shows it plainly.
What the registry contains
Roughly 45 registered studies. Twenty-two of them Phase 3, seventeen Phase 1, six Phase 2. About 25 completed, ten recruiting, seven active but not recruiting.
Every one lists Novo Nordisk as lead sponsor. There is no academic entry, no investigator-initiated study, no independent replication anywhere in the registry.
For comparison, the compounds this site usually examines have zero registered trials, or one of doubtful provenance. This is a different situation entirely.
The two readings of a single-sponsor programme
A company does not run 22 Phase 3 studies casually. The expense alone signals that dose-finding is done, the mechanism is defined, and a specific indication is being pursued. That is real evidence in the making.
At the same time, one sponsor owning the whole evidence base means nobody outside the company has tested the findings. That is entirely normal for a drug in development, and it is still a caveat that belongs beside any figure lifted from the programme.
Where the lean mass question actually sits
Amylin analogues act on satiety and gastric emptying. The programme is about body weight and metabolic endpoints, not about lean tissue specifically, and the composition question that matters to a training audience, how much of the weight lost is muscle, is not what these trials were designed around.
That question is live for the whole GLP-1 and amylin class and it is not answered by a phase count. A trial can be large, well run and irrelevant to the outcome you care about.
Reading a chart
A cagrilintide dosage chart restates trial quantities, not authorised ones, because no regulator has approved the compound. The useful versions attribute each figure to a study, separate cagrilintide alone from the combination with semaglutide, and say clearly that approval has not happened.
