The published literature includes rat Achilles transection models, medial collateral ligament injury models and a long series of gastrointestinal studies, plus in vitro tendon fibroblast outgrowth. A large share of that output comes from one group in Zagreb. That is not an accusation, but a single-laboratory evidence base is weaker than the same number of papers spread across independent teams.
What does not exist is a completed human efficacy trial. One is finally running: NCT07437547, a Phase 2 study of BPC-157 in acute hamstring muscle strain, sponsored by Hudson Biotech, 120 participants, started on 2 February 2026 with primary completion estimated for 14 February 2027.
